Flashback before I turn 18 tomorrow.

"Lowercase"

For this photo, I photographed my friends outdoors climbing a wall and sitting on a bench. The keyboard was photographed indoors. I adjusted the size of the models and edited the lighting, contrast, colours, and shadows of the original model photos to match the keyboard background.

Portfolio

My work is a collection of different photo themes such as levitation, iconic items (umbrella or clothing), and fashion collages. With influences as diverse as everyday youth and the inspiration of those from the online community, my work is created. Ever since I had taken interest in photography I have been fascinated by the different perspectives of human nature by different photographers. What starts out as an idea inspired by other photographers or artists becomes molded into my own work. As subtle forms become transformed through calm and graceful practice, the viewer is left with a glimpse of a peaceful creation.

This photo was taken in Hong Kong in a beach area. The one day intended for a photoshoot was the only unexpected rainy day.

Rough Artist Statement

My work explores the relationship between everyday ordinary happenings and the use of an iconic statement prop such as a red umbrella.

With influences as diverse as the innocence of everyday youth and the atmosphere of a never-sleeping city, new synergies are distilled from both explicit and implicit narratives.

Ever since I had taken interest in photography I have been fascinated by the different perspectives of human nature by different photographers. What starts out as an ordinary object soon becomes finessed into an iconic prop used to portray its many uses in many different situations, leaving only a new appreciation for everyday items.

As subtle forms become transformed through calm and graceful practice, the viewer is left with a glimpse of the edges of our condition.

• Final prints are often a digital composite of multiple negatives.
